Week 12
Ok, who is this crab of a baby and what did he do with my sweet Oscar? The grumpies have attacked him – HARD! Ugh, he doesn’t want to be put down, he doesn’t want to be picked up, he is a little fuss bucket and no fun! Oh how we love the swing when we start getting baby attitude - the music and motion are like a little mute button for our boy. Swing away little one, swing away. Thank God for the invention of swings!
Oscar is channeling his inner Rastafarian. I know you’re thinking what the heck? Ya, he’s developing little baby Bread-locks (Bed+Dreadlocks = Bread-locks) in the back of his hair. It’s not cute. His Bread-locks trap a teeny tiny piece of lint in them which you cannot brush or condition out. Can you imagine? Oscar with a full head of dreads? Our little Ziggy Marley (I know, I could have chosen the more known Marley, Bob, but I like the ring of “Ziggy”) had to have his first little hair cut. No, I didn’t give him the ever-popular and chic Zac Efron sweep. I just chopped the little bits out. It is quite scary holding scissors at the head of a bobble head. Thankfully I didn’t get his ear. If you’ve got any suggestions on preventing Bread-Locks – I’d love to hear. In the meantime, Oscar is just going to spread his love, reggae and fashionable choppy haircut.
I have to admit life is extremely crazy right now. There’s no time for me, no time for us (Tim and I), I don’t feel like I’ve got quality time with the kids, my home projects are all half way done or the list of what needs to be done is growing. I’ve started decorating like my mom – with the vacuum just left in the living room. My head is always at work – I’ve got major things brewing with Monkey-Toes, plus because I am the queen, scratch that, the definition of procrastination I let my accounting stay un-reconciled for the entire 2008 calendar year. So now it’s major catch up time – especially since it’s tax season and I’ve gotta have it done. I have to email myself my thoughts, otherwise I will forget them – yes, it is that bad. And with Oscar napping at only 30 minutes a shot, everything is half-apple’d (PG version) – I feel so scattered. Tim and I have really had to work hard to communicate what we need and share in responsibilities. He is so wonderful with Oscar, not afraid to change a poopy diaper or to hold him when he is fussy, I am so grateful. I’m not feeling like fun Jenny anymore – It’s been all serious Jenny (who is NO FUN) who just has a lot on her plate. It’s been such an eye-opening experience for our relationship – thankfully we always come together and make it work. Oh how I love that man to pieces, he will always be my number 1. And I know that this time is only temporary, thankfully!
