Ashleigh Farrell, Week 20 of pregnancy

Week 20: Nursery planning and clothes shopping begins!

OHHH We’re half way there!

So now that we have an answer, its… a…. boy! We can finally begin the detailed process of setting up the nursery. Mind you, I’m fanatical about decorating so this is no small task, everything will be perfect, thought out for months ahead of time, precisely placed, yes a bit OCD ok. I have found a bedding set that is perfect at Pottery Barn and luckily on sale or it would’ve been out of the question! Color scheme… well it’s loosely navy blue and white, with hints of light blue and chocolate brown. No “themes” for the room like cars, or jungle, or dinosaurs, god forbid Whinne the Pooh! Nothing cutesy kidlike that’s just not my style. I want a room that he can grow into. So the room will carry a vintage heritage feel with monogramming details. I told you I have this precisely thought out! So this week has been spent looking up art prints for the walls, the monogram wall decal, rugs, and the other little details.

We also decided to go on a mini shopping spree for the little man, time to get my cute clothes craving satisfied. I found the most adorable onesies, among my fave “Mr. Amazing”! An adorable pair of swim trunks, and we even found the perfect crib mobile. I’ve been scouring Ebay for Converse chucks, Harley apparel, and more good old boy stuff. Hubby has been having a great time with the architectural design of the nursery including the custom built in closet organizer (yes I’m married to a contractor, even the smallest details are sure to be a blown out masterpiece!) And he is also CAD designing the focal wall and detailed trim work for the room. For all the non-contractor people, that’s a complete, to scale, architectural drawing of a wood trim wall detail including a full scale layout of the crib and coordinating furniture! Again the male perspective of pregnancy… Can you tell we’re excited??

And still the belly seems to be shrinking… not sure what the deal is! I’m eating like a crazy person, I can’t handle that not full but not hungry feeling, so I just eat all the time! I am in love with Cherry Limeades from Sonic, my sweet husband will surprise me with one sometimes when he comes home. And baby seems to LOVE Donettes, you know those tiny chocolate covered donuts. Yep every time I eat them he kicks away like crazy. Shaun still hasn’t been able to feel the kicks yet, his hands are way too manly and when he lays on my belly he is too fidgety to notice, I think the kid is going to have to reach out of the womb and thump him for him to notice…!

We have decided on a name, actually we had already narrowed our boy list down to one name prior to finding out so that part was easy. We are keeping the name a surprise so our lips are sealed until birth! The monograms will certainly entertain everyone trying to guess! So we’re half way there… and I can’t complain, after making it through the first trimester things are bearable. Shaun and I laughed the other day that if things hadn’t improved we’d only be having one child. Thankfully things are much better so our dreams of multiple children are still on track! J
