Week 12

Ok, who is this crab of a baby and what did he do with my sweet Oscar?  The grumpies have attacked him – HARD!  Ugh, he doesn’t want to be put down, he doesn’t want to be picked up, he is a little fuss bucket and no fun!  Oh how we love the swing when we start getting baby attitude - the music and motion are like a little mute button for our boy.  Swing away little one, swing away. Thank God for the invention of swings!

Week 10

Just when I think I’ve got it all figured out, it changes.  And by “it” I mean Oscar.  One night he sleeps until 4 am others he is waking every two hours.  So even when he does sleep a long stretch I continue to wake up for two reasons – 1) my brain is now trained to listen for him 2) my boobs are like giant boulders in my bra and need to be relieved.  I’ve found myself pumping in the middle of the night for some relief.  Can you say exhausting?

Holy growth spurt Batman!  I think we’ve got one here and it hit mid-week.  He’s been noshing every 2 hours, consistently.  Oscra’s been napping for about 45 minutes to an hour, but the past few days he has been going to bed at around 7 and waking up at 4-4:30!  WOO HOO!  Man, I feel like a normal WOMAN (compliments of Shania Twain).  After his feeding he then goes back to sleep for another 3 hours.  I’m feeling renewed and like I am one lucky lady.

MomToBeDepot meets Oscar - Jenny Ford's newborn

Jenny Ford and Oscar with Sammy Feb 2010

We finally were healthy enough to visit one-on-one with new mom Jenny Ford, owner of Monkey-Toes.com.  Oscar is a beautiful little boy.  He slept the whole time my Sammy (almost 3 yrs) and I visited a couple of weeks ago.

Mom is glowing and rapidly looking like her pre-pregnancy self (I'm jealous!).  I had forgotten about the amazing feelingyou have when you hold a newborn.  They're so small and seem so fragile.  Makes me want to hug him all day long.

Jenny Ford, founder of Monkey-Toes.com, Week 40 - Labor & Delivery

Jenny Ford and Oscar born Dec 21, 2009

40 weeks + 3 days

I should have known by the sudden and uncontrollable urge to bleach my bathroom floor and scrub the baseboards that I was going to be delivering soon. We had that induction date of the 23rd in place and I think both Tim and I just resigned to the fact that I would be delivering on that day – which actually brought some major mental relief. Nope, not so, God had another plan in mind, which was far better than we could have imagined (messier, but better) …

I need Jillian Michaels (the Biggest Loser) to come whip my butt into shape.  (Let’s be honest here, if Jillian Michaels came running toward me with a whip I’d drop to the fetal position and cry like a baby) I’ve got the new tennis shoes, they’re all shined up and techie’d up with their Nike plus system that connects my iPod to my shoes.  I can figure out how long and fast I’ve been running/walking and how many calories I’ve burned in that period, etc - and I’ve got NOOOOO motivation to get this flabby butt firm and cute again.  Swimsuit season
