Little girl's legacy lives on with Alex's Lemonade Stand, which has raised more than $1M for children's cancer research
I'm so proud of my niece Rhyannon (Rhyan for short). She is one of the thousands of kids around the country to help raise funds for children's cancer research. This amazing non-profit organization, Alex's Lemonade Stand, was created by the parents of Alex, who lost her battle with cancer when she was just 8 years old. Alex was diagnosed with cancer when she was four and set up her own lemonade stand to raise money to find a cure for her disease. On her first day, she raised $2,000! She continued to raise money by selling lemonade for the next four years. After Alex's passing, her parents decided to continue on with the lemonade stand by setting up a non-profit to provide kids with all the supplies they need to create their own lemonade stands, and have them raise funds for children's cancer research. So far, more than $1M has been raised!
Sometimes we take our health, and our kid's health for granted. We're very fortunate and we don't always recognize that.
